Children participate in a variety of activities at kindergarten centres that reflect their interests and skills, extend their knowledge of themselves and others, and help them to understand their environment. Your child will have the opportunity to be involved in creative activities, develop physical skills, increase independence and develop a positive self – image.

Your child is eligible to attend a funded kindergarten program if your child turns 4 yeas of age on or before 30 April in year of attendance.

A total of 13 community kindergartens are offered across the Shire. Council manages the kindergartens located at Girgarre, Gunbower, Lockington, Rochester and Tongala. An Incorporated Committee of Management manages the service in Colbinabbin, Echuca, Kyabram, Rushworth and Stanhope.

A kindergarten program is also available at the Campaspe Community Children’s Centre - long day care centre.

How much does it cost?

Kindergarten fees are set by the Service. Please contact your local service – as listed below – to find out more information.

A kindergarten fee subsidy is available from the Victorian Government to help reduce the cost of kindergarten for eligible families who have a Health Care Card or Pensioner Concession Card.

Enrolment Procedures

The Shire of Campaspe maintains a central enrolment system for Shire of Campaspe Managed Kindergarten Services.  The participating services are located at Girgarre, Gunbower, Lockington, Rochester and Tongala.  A kindergarten service is also offered at Council’s Long Day Care Centre in Echuca (Campaspe Community Children’s Centre).

Application forms are available from local Maternal and Child Health Centres, participating Kindergartens, Council’s Customer Services Centres and Council’s Website.

When enrolling your child, parents are asked to carefully consider the age of their child and whether he/she will be ready for kindergarten.
