The Shire of Campaspe's main town of Echuca is 200 kilometres from Melbourne and is named from the Aboriginal word for "meeting of the waters". The waters of the Campaspe, Goulburn and Murray Rivers enrich the soil of the region to make it ideal for agriculture and viticulture and the fine weather all year offers a virtual playground of outdoor pursuits in bushland, rivers, lakes and parklands.
