2024 Christmas Operating Hours

With the festive season fast approaching, Campaspe Shire Council would like to remind the community of some changes to our operations over the Christmas and New Year period.
The following changes to opening hours will occur between Tuesday, 24 December and Thursday, 2 January.
Council services:
- Customer Service Centres – close 3pm on Tuesday 24 December and reopen 8:30am on Thursday, 2 January 2025.
- Echuca Library closes 3pm on Tuesday 24 December and reopens at 10am on Thursday, 2 January.
- Kyabram, Rochester, Tongala and Rushworth Libraries close 3pm Tuesday 24 December and re-open 8.30am Thursday 2 January.
- All online Library services and after-hours return chutes will still be available.
- Resource Recovery Centres – closed Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.
- Maternal and Child Health – service operating for first home visits and essential appointments only, contact the MCH booking line to discuss your options on 1300 644 964.
- Campaspe Animal Shelter – closed Sundays and Christmas Day. Open via appointment only from 10am – 12 noon on Boxing Day and New Year's Day. All other days in between open via appointment as per usual operating hours. Appointments can be made by calling 5480 3005.
- Echuca War Memorial Aquatic Centre – closed Christmas Day.
- Outdoor swimming pools – closed Christmas Day.
- Parks and Gardens will have a staff presence to maintain public toilets, barbecues etc over the break, with most crew returning 2 January.
- Quarries - closed for sales from Friday, 20 December and reopen on Monday, 6 January.
- Roads maintenance – closes Friday, 20 December and reopens on Monday, 6 January.
- Campaspe Community Children’s Centre – closes 5.45pm on Monday, 23 December and reopens Monday, 6 January.
- Rochester Early Learning Centre – closes 6pm on Monday, 23 December and reopens Monday, 6 January.
- Volunteer-based Community Transport will conclude on Friday, 20 December and reopen for bookings from Tuesday, 14 January. Service requests lodged during Council’s office closure period will be attended to upon reopening of Council offices.
- On-call ranger services operate throughout the holiday period for emergencies only.
- For urgent requests, call 1300 666 535 and follow the prompts.
Kerbside bin collections:
Kerbside waste collections during the Christmas period are likely to be one hour earlier on some days – so please be prepared!
Kerbside collection will not be impacted on New Year’s Day. Collections will return to normal on Monday, 30 December and onwards.
Collection dates across the municipality will change as follows:

If a collection is missed, residents can take their rubbish to any of Campaspe’s Resource Recovery Centres at Colbinabbin, Echuca, Gunbower, Lockington, Mount Scobie, Rochester, Rushworth and Toolleen for a fee. All Resource Recovery Centres now have EFTPOS facilities. Recycling (items you would normally put in your yellow lid bin) can be taken to any of the transfer stations at no charge.
Resource Recovery Centres:
All eight Resource Recovery Centres will be closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day. Services will operate as usual on all other dates. For additional information about our Resource Recovery Centre locations and opening hours, call us on 1300 666 535.
Additional closures on 12 December only:
Most Campaspe Shire Council services will close from 11am on Thursday, 12 December, and will re-open as usual on Friday, 13 December. The exceptions are the Echuca Customer Service Centre and Echuca Library, which will close from 11:45am on Thursday, 12 December and re-open at 8:30am and 10am respectively on 13 December.
