What do camels, ice sculptures, slime and cinemas have in common?

They all play a part in Campaspe Shire Council’s upcoming school holiday program!

Mayor Chrissy Weller said the month of April is simply jam packed with fun, free activities for the kids.

“Thanks to funding from the Victorian Government’s COVID Safe Outdoor Activation Fund, Council has been able to provide some memory making moments across our shire.

“This funding is being used in the development of ‘pop up’ outdoor cinemas, to be hosted at a variety of locations across the shire, along with the school holiday programs in April and June/July.

“It’s been a fantastic way to showcase unique experiences that our residents may have never seen before. Master ice sculptor, Glenn Smith, is one of those talented people whose work really has to be seen to be believed.

“His creations in Rochester, while they didn’t last all day, drew a huge crowd of passing travellers, workers on their lunch break and the local school children whose teachers had allowed a special outing.

“Events like these not only support our local businesses, but they ultimately draw our communities together. All walks of life congregate to enjoy completely free entertainment, so our school holiday program has quite an important purpose behind it.

“I encourage all parents and guardians to take the kids along to one of the many exciting activities. There’s science based mayhem with slime and bubbles, exciting camel rides, cuddling up with one of the Fauna Park’s many creatures, or chilling out in the evening watching a good movie. Plus, lots more!

“There’s something for everyone to enjoy.”
