Expressions of Interest to join a number of Place Based Plan and Township Facility Plan Committees are now open.

Mayor Chrissy Weller said with Council approving an update to the planning process at last month’s meeting, plans are now underway to get the committees appointed.

Applications are now open for the:

  • Lockington Place Based Plan Committee
  • Rochester Place Based Plan Committee
  • Colbinabbin Township Facility Plan Committee

Last week, applications also re-opened for the Tongala Township Facility Plan Committee.

“I encourage residents to nominate to the relevant committee for their town and be part of the planning process,” Mayor Weller said.

“Place Based Plan Committees focus on developing a plan capturing the community’s future aspirations, that ultimately says; what do you want your town to look like, function like and feel like?

“Township Facility Plan Committees focus on looking at the future of the town’s key assets and identify whether a facility should be renewed, upgraded, repurposed, or retired.

“To support each committee, we have independent consultants appointed to help each group build and develop their plans.

“Once the plans are completed each group will present their plan to Council.”

Full details on the purpose of each committee and how to apply is available on Council’s website. General information on the role of Place Based Planning and Township Facility Planning is also available.

Applications for the Colbinabbin, Lockington and Rochester committees close on Friday, 21 October.

Applications for the Tongala Township Facility Plan Committee were released last week and close on Friday, 14 October.
