Fox baiting

Campaspe Shire Council will start a three week fox baiting program at Ern Miles Reserve in Kyabram from Wednesday, 8 December.

General Manager Infrastructure Jason Deller said the program builds on the work done on the site over the last three years and continues to be an important step towards the protection of wildlife from fox attacks in the area.

“The reserve is doing really well, now providing habitat for 125 varieties of birds, along with kangaroos, wallabies and brushtail possums,” Dr Deller said.

“The baiting program is also helping to protect the native animals at the nearby Kyabram Fauna Park.

“The reserve will remain safe and open to the public, however it is important that dogs are kept on leads, in line with existing requirements.”

Signs will be in place highlighting that the fox control program is underway again and letters have been sent to adjoining landowners.

The program will run for three weeks with fox baits removed on Wednesday, 29 December.
