Gearing up for the flu season
Published on 07 May 2020
Campaspe Shire Council now has in stock a limited supply of flu vaccinations available for people aged 5 – 64 years.
Regulatory & Community Services General Manager, Paul McKenzie said with the current demand for vaccination and limited stock available, Council is asking residents to register their interest for the vaccination.
“To effectively distribute current stock and with more on order, we invite the Campaspe community to register their interest in the flu vaccine,” Mr McKenzie said.
Registration require individuals and families to provide contact details including the number of vaccinations needed and town preference. Council will then assign stock and contact all registered parties to confirm a time and date for the vaccination to be received.
Council’s flu vaccine contains the four most common strains of the flu virus of which three strains differ from last year’s vaccine. Vaccines are available by appointment only at a cost of $30.
“Residents are required to pay for flu vaccinations by eftpos or credit card only at their designated immunisation session.”
“Flu vaccinations are free for people over 65 and individuals in the high risk category,” Mr McKenzie said.
Last year, more than 2100 doses of the flu vaccine were administered by council and it expected that more than 3000 vaccines will be given this year.
Additional immunisation sessions have been scheduled to keep up with current demand.
