It's beginning to look like Christmas

With Christmas fast approaching, community groups have started decorating their towns in festive colours, ready for the holiday period.
Campaspe Shire General Manager Community, Keith Oberin, said Council has been working with community and business groups to create and install decorations.
“Working with the community ensures each township is decorated the way residents would like it done, allowing each community to individualise their decorations for their own identity to shine through,” Mr Oberin said.
For the second year, various groups and businesses in Rushworth have decorated 36 metal tree frames, made by the Rushworth Men’s Shed. The decorated trees can be enjoyed by locals and visitors in the High Street median.
Rochester has again decorated bike wheels, now in various open places across the town. However, this year you even need to look up, as they have been installed in the High Street palm trees.
In Tongala two projects are underway. The Tongala Sound Shell now boasts two large 3D Christmas present stacks and the community is creating a Christmas Hay Bale Trail, following the success of Bluey and Bingo Hay Bales earlier in the year.
The Kyabram community has been active, yarn bombing the trees in Allan Street. COVID restrictions do not allow Santa’s Cave in the Town Hall this year, but the Santa’s Cave façade will be installed at the entry to Rodney Chambers, creating a selfie station for residents to stop and enjoy the space while shopping in the main street.
The Gunbower community has been working hard, creating their own street decorations and banners with a theme ‘Gunbower – A home amongst the Gum Trees’.
Stanhope and Girgarre have reinvigorated their decorations, adding lighting and tinsel to the many displays across the town.
In Echuca, garlands, flags and tinsel decorations have been installed in the CBD and historic port precinct. New Christmas light ornaments have also been installed in the gum tree near the Campaspe Library and in Hopwood Gardens.
“The many community groups and businesses involved in the Christmas decorations program are to be congratulated for efforts in brightening up our townships, adding some vibrancy and colour to our streets,” Mr Oberin said.
