From the Mayor

Community groups are the backbone of Campaspe Shire. They organise endless events, they fundraise for projects, they help the community to engage. This year’s Australia Day celebrations are no different. Every part of Campaspe has something unique to offer their residents. Koyuga celebrates with their annual yabby races, Echuca is providing an all-day event with art show and skateboard competition, and Lockington will have a kids fishing competition. To the groups that organise these events, your hard work and commitment is to be commended.

The Australia Day celebrations include some important proceedings; the flag raising, the presentation of awards, citizenship ceremonies. I encourage every local resident to join in at their local event, listen to some amazing guest speakers and ultimately, celebrate that which we all have in common – being Australian. You might even get a cooked breakfast! Please remember to stay COVID safe this Australia Day and follow the instructions of the organising committees as they comply with restrictions.
