The Stanhope Community is seeking volunteers to help implement actions outlined in Stanhope’s Community Place Based Plan.

In assisting in the ‘shout out’ to the community, Campaspe Shire Council’s General Manager Community, Keith Oberin, said the plan, developed by the community and endorsed by Council in 2019, captures the local’s vision for the town and the sets the priorities and future opportunities to meet modern challenges.

“The next step of the process is to recruit community volunteers to assist in the delivery of the Plan’s projects,” Plan implementation group member Sarah West said.

The projects align with the Plan’s four key principles;

  • Strong community connections
  • Recreation and lifestyles
  • Modern rural identity
  • Investment and industry

The principles help form the basis to develop and prioritise the projects, along with how to measure their success.

The plan has identified 15 projects made up of short term (completed within six months), medium term (six months to three years) and long term (three to ten years).

Some of the projects in the plan include the beautification of the town, continued development of the Community Recreation Precinct Masterplan, festivals and events, development of the open art space, the relocation of the kindergarten and a wetlands passive recreation area.

In volunteering, residents may consider involvement in one project, or many, depending on particular interests and skill sets.

A public meeting, outlining the options moving forward, is scheduled for Wednesday, 19 May at 6pm in the Stanhope Senior Citizens Centre.
