Seniors program grants closed on 7 August. Successful applicants are expected to be announced by Friday, 8 September.

 

Campaspe Shire Council is committed to positive ageing and supporting the health and wellbeing of its older residents. The Seniors Program Grant provides financial support of up to $1,000 to deliver events, programs or activities. Council is looking to fund innovative and inclusive projects that support our older residents.

Some examples could include:

  • Establishment of social groups, materials to directly support seniors programs and development of resources for seniors enjoyment or education.
  • Support to develop new skills or talents
  • Creation of local stories to share
  • Activities that seek to re-engage and directly support seniors

The Seniors Program Grants are open to incorporated non-profit organisations; Crown Committee of Managements and Government departments on behalf of a community group. If your organisation is none of these, please contact the Campaspe Shire Council to discuss options.

Applications can be made for a maximum of $1,000.

Organisations based outside the Campaspe Shire are eligible to apply if the people benefiting from the grant reside in the Campaspe Shire.

The Campaspe Shire Council will seek to fund projects and events that address one or more of the following:

  • Promote positive ageing.
  • Inclusive and accessible for the aged community.
  • Encourage people from identified communities of priority to be involved ie
    • Culturally and linguistically diverse
    • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders
    • LGBTIQA+
    • People living with disabilities
    • People living with mental illness
    • People living with social disadvantage
    • Women

Applications that will not be considered include:

  • Application for retrospective funding.
  • Recurrent or ongoing salaries.
  • Insurances, such as (but not limited to) Public Liability.
  • Bills (e.g. electricity, gas, etc).
  • Application from a group with any outstanding grant acquittals.

An application for a Seniors Program Grants may not necessarily result in funding approval. Funding allocation is at the discretion of the assessment panel and based on the strength of the application.

If the project requires it, organisations will be requested to prove that they have the appropriate level of insurance cover by providing certificates of currency.

If an organisation is successful in obtaining funds they will be required to acquit those funds within that financial year and participate in evaluation of the program.

In the event that the grant money hasn’t been expended within the financial year, arrangements to use it for the following year can be made by contacting Council’s Community Development Coordinator by phoning 1300 666 535.

Grants open on 17 July and close on 7 August 2023.

Assessment will be undertaken by a panel made up of council staff and will be based on the community and social benefit of the project, improvement to health and wellbeing, sustainability and demonstrating a commitment to positive ageing concepts.

Announcements of successful applicants expected to be made by Friday, 8 September 2023.

Preference will be given to:

  • Projects that demonstrate strong community and social benefit.
  • Inclusive and accessible for the aged community.
  • Encourage and supports participation from disadvantaged groups.
  • Improves health and wellbeing, and social connectedness of older citizens.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to positive ageing concepts by meeting basic needs:
    • Enabling growth and decision making
    • Mobility
    • Relationship building
    • Contributing to society
  • Ongoing benefits to the community.
  • Direct benefits to the residents of Campaspe Shire.

Events hosted by aged care facilities need to be open to the broader senior’s community and not held exclusively for residents.

Successful applicants will agree to:

  • Abide by the signed Deed of Agreement and Conditions of Funding.
  • Expend the grant monies only in accordance with the successful project application. Any unspent funds must be returned to the Campaspe Shire Council at the end of the grant period unless prior approval has been sought.
  • Any variance from the successful application must be approved in writing by the Campaspe Shire Council. Please contact the Community Development Coordinator for further information.
