Three ageing public amenities are set for replacement across the Shire.
One of the new fully accessible ‘modular’ amenities will be installed at Alton Reserve in Echuca next to the Alton Gallery on Hare Street. There will be a total of five cubicles including four unisex ambulant, one unisex accessible. The new amenities will be clad in Colorbond, with the colour specified to suit each location.
The modular design enables the amenities to be fabricated and assembled in the factory, and then craned into position on site, minimising the time that the amenities are out of action for the community.
There is an alternative public amenity a short walk away at the High Street car park. Council will install signs during construction advising of this alternative location.
Accessible parking and footpaths will also be installed from Hare Street.
These works have been funded by the Federal Governments Local Roads and Community Infrastructure program.
ASCO Group have recently completed the manufacturing and assembly of the new unisex accessible amenities which have been delivered and placed into position. Following this the roof and doors will be installed and the services connected. The last items to be completed will be the concrete footpaths and epoxy floor coating. The flooring is scheduled to be completed in stages during December and January so that the amenities can reopen prior to Christmas.
