This project aims to enhance and upgrade the Aquatic Reserve for the benefit of the community and events.

The key project elements are:

  • Stormwater and lagoon health improvements
  • Accessible and shared paths with town linkages
  • Safety improvements including path balustrades, path lighting and landscaped exclusion zones
  • Event services including 3 phase electrical connections, path and space lighting and drinking water tap points 
  • Sheltered accessible BBQs, picnic settings and seats
  • Improved irrigation and landscaping
  • Feature lighting including flood lighting and up-lighting of trees

This project is being developed in stages:

Stage 1 - Aquatic Reserve Infrastructure and Service Plan - endorsed by Council in 2016.

Stage 2 - Business case - Completed in 2020.

Stage 3 - Preliminary design - Completed in 2021.

Stage 4 - Planning permit received - Detailed Design in progress

Stage 5 - Construction - Grant funding has been provided for stormwater improvements. The works contract has been awarded and is scheduled to start in September and be completed by 30 November 2023.

This stage has been supported by the Victorian Government through the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action's Integrated Water Management Grants Program.

Stage 6 - Construction - Construction of the paths, lighting, 3 phase power, landscaping, BBQs and picnic facilities are subject to obtaining further funding.
