Heritage Planning Panel Report now available
The Independent Planning Panels report into Campaspe Planning Scheme Amendment C101 - Heritage is now available.
Campaspe Amendment C101 seeks to implement the recommendations from last year’s review to fix anomalies within the heritage overlay to better protect and preserve the many public and private structures and sites of heritage significance across the municipality.
Campaspe Mayor, Cr Leigh Wilson, said the Panel recognised that this has been a difficult Amendment for Council, given both its history and its scale and that significant time and resources had been invested into its preparation.
“Council has sought to build upon the work undertaken previously and was commended for the approach adopted, particularly the amount of community consultation,” he said.
The Panel has outlined 37 recommendations. In summary the Panel:
- supports changes to the boundaries of the existing Heritage precincts with minor changes to some precinct boundaries
- supports the introduction of the new heritage precincts in Kyabram, Rochester, Lockington and Tongala
- generally supports the inclusion of the individual properties proposed
- recommends the introduction of heritage controls for the Pine Grove Recreation Reserve
- does not support the inclusion of the Dawes Road Primary School and the trees within individual heritage overlays
- supports all proposed corrections of anomalies
- accepts the Shire of Campaspe Heritage Precincts Incorporated Plan with some minor changes
- accepts the introduction of the Burnewang House Incorporated Plan
Documents are available for viewing at all Shire of Campaspe Service Centres and on the Department of Environment, Land, Water & Planning website.
The Panel’s report and the Planning Scheme Amendment are to be presented to Council for consideration at their February Council meeting.
