Fresh Start program
Women affected by breast cancer are invited to join a subsidised gentle exercise program at the Echuca War Memorial Aquatic Centre.
The eight week program, Fresh Start, beginning on 3 March, is an opportunity for women affected by breast cancer to come together, develop their fitness and learn about health.
“It’s a weekly two hour program that includes a guest speaker, 45 minutes of gentle floor exercises and 45 minutes of water-based exercises,” said Deputy Mayor, Cr Carol Howell.
“It’s an opportunity for women to slowly reintroduce movement back into their life in a supportive environment.”
The program has been developed in partnership with Echuca Regional Health in place of the YWCA ENCORE program which has run at Echuca War Memorial Aquatic Centre over the past two years. This will be the first in a series of unique Fresh Start programs, which supports women affected by breast cancer in achieving healthy lifestyle goals.
“We have different exercises and a different program each week. Guest speakers help participants with information on cancer management, rehabilitation, recovery, health and wellbeing,” said Cr Howell.
Places are limited to 14 per program, so it is essential to book in. For further information, contact Rebecca Bowen on 5480 2994.
