Expressions of interest (EOI) are closing soon for new volunteer opportunities at the Campaspe Animal Shelter.
Campaspe Mayor, Cr Adrian Weston, said animal lovers with a few hours a week spare were encouraged to lodge an EOI to be considered for a broad range of hands-on roles at the shelter as well as foster carers to look after the animals for short periods of time in their own home.
“The Campaspe Animal Shelter provides a safe, temporary place for lost, stray or unwanted dogs and cats until a permanent home can be found, so this is a wonderful opportunity for people with a love of animals to help care for them until their forever home is found,” Cr Weston said.
“As animals at the shelter are tested for temperament and health, the volunteers and foster carers would only care for those that have passed all the tests and have been deemed suitable for adoption.”
Positions on offer include general assistants to help with play, exercise and grooming at the shelter. Foster carers are also needed to provide short-term respite within their own home for animals who may have been at the facility for extended periods of time.
“It’s vitally important we recruit the highest calibre of volunteers for these important roles to help ensure the physical, mental and emotional wellbeing of the animals can be nurtured until a suitable permanent home is secured.”
Further information, including application forms, is available on Council’s website www.campaspe.vic.gov.au.
Expressions of interest must be received by Council by Monday, 20 March. These can be emailed to [email protected] or sent to Campaspe Shire Council, PO Box 35, Echuca VIC 3564.
