Cool cats at hot prices promotion extended

In a bid to transfer many abandoned cats and kittens to loving homes, the Campaspe Animal Shelter has extended its free cat and half price kitten promotion until the end of April.

A week and a half into the “Cool Cats @ Hot Prices” campaign, the promotion has proved extremely successful with 24 fully vaccinated cats and kittens being adopted. Such is the success that they are extending the promotion until 30 April to keep up with the current ongoing oversupply of the cute little furry animals.

“Sadly when one cage empties another feline companion fills the space,” said Kate Lemon, Public Environments Manager.

The Campaspe Animal Shelter takes in lost, seized or surrendered cats and dogs, providing them with temporary homing and care. Many will return to their owners, yet sadly a lot are without homes and require adoption.

The shelter currently has over 30 felines looking for a loving home. “All of the cats and kittens are desexed, microchipped and vaccinated, and have been assessed as having good temperaments that make them suitable for re-homing,” said Ms Lemon.

Although adult cats are free and kittens are half price at $75, animal registration fees still apply. For Campaspe residents, the annual registration fee is currently $43 or, $22 for pension card holders.

If adoption is not an option for some people, the Campaspe Animal Shelter is seeking assistance from the community to help advocate the many feline friends desperate for a loving home by sharing facebook posts and spreading the word.

The Campaspe Animal Shelter is open seven days a week at varying times. All cats and kittens up for adoption can be viewed on the website…/campaspe…/adopt-an-animal/.
