21 December 2017 - Media release

The Campaspe Shire community have united in Christmas spirit, decorating their towns in festive colours – bright, colourful and ready for the holiday period.

Mayor Cr Adrian Weston said each year, through the Township Street Decoration Policy, communities receive an allocation of funds to purchase or renew street decorations.

“These funds can be used throughout the year for various events however are generally utilised on Christmas decorations,” Cr Weston said.

“Each town can individualise their decorations allowing for their own identity to shine through. Many are made by local businesses or organisations such as the Men’s Sheds,” Cr Weston added.

Additional decorations purchased for 2017 have included Christmas shaped light displays in Lockington, wreath garland for the Tongala Soundshell, elf cut outs in Rochester and star garland and red & green fountain lights in Kyabram.

Many towns also added Christmas panels to council’s bins and business centre trees.

“Thank you to all of the community members who have provided assistance with this program. Campaspe Shire is indeed a more vibrant and festive environment because of the outstanding contributions made by our community members.” Cr Weston said.
