Load limit restrictions on Raglus Bridge

22 March 2018 - Media release

Campaspe Shire Council has put load limit restrictions on Raglus Bridge, a small bridge which crosses the Wanalta Creek on Davey Road, south west of Rushworth.

Mayor, Cr Adrian Weston, said a routine maintenance inspection by council found structural defects on the bridge with a more recent detailed inspection necessitating the load limit restriction.

“Council has reduced the weight limit on the bridge to three-tonne, down from 20-tonne,” Cr Weston said.

“This means that while a standard car and motorbike can use the bridge, larger vehicles such as trucks, cars with trailers and farm machinery cannot.”

“The bridge is single lane and caters for a very small volume of traffic. Our main priority is to keep the bridge open for the local community who use it.”

Council has attempted to contact all those potentially impacted by the new load restrictions, including local residents and emergency services.

Signs will shortly be put in place indicating the reduced weight limit.
