Campaspe Shire Council presented $93,247 to 40 community groups in round one of the 2018/19 Community Grants Program in Echuca last night.
Mayor Cr Adrian Weston said the program offers financial assistance to support services, programs and events delivered by community groups, clubs and associations in Campaspe Shire.
“It was great to see so many community groups right across our shire gather together and share details on their special projects to improve their services, facilities and activities for the benefit of the Campaspe community,” Cr Weston said.
Grant recipient Darren Carnie from the Lockington & District Bush Nursing Centre Inc. formally thanked Campaspe Shire for contributing $4,000 for the installation of solar panels on their roof.
“It’s going to make a big difference to us in terms of cost – decreasing our electricity bills. It’s a win for the environment as well,” Mr Carnie said.
Lisa Baker from the Echuca Basketball Association Inc. was extremely grateful for council’s $5,000 contribution towards the Echuca Basketball Junior Tournament
“We have over 100 teams which bring 1,000 kids plus families to the area for three days so a massive event for us and hopefully it will be bigger and better this year,” Ms Baker said.
