Molato- Lingala , meaning 'the art of dressing.’

Nicole Dilubenzi is a Congolese refugee who was living in Namibia with her husband Chicco, who worked for the government as a doctor, and their three children.
The Dilubenzi family were waiting on visas for a holiday to Australia to investigate immigration opportunities when, tragically, Chicco went missing. Needing to escape unsafe living conditions, Nicole made the difficult decision to proceed with the journey to Australia.

The Molato Project has come together through the support of a small group of community people and members of Rural Australians for Refugee’s, (R.A.R.) with the aim of supporting Nicole Dilubenzi and her children into our community. The group is assisting Nicole in establishing a career and income stream through her skills as a Fashion Designer and Dressmaker. With support and guidance from Echuca’s R.A.R, Nicole and her children have settled in Echuca, the children are attending St Mary’s Catholic Primary School.

Securing the Moama Bowling Club as Molato Project’s major partner, the date is set for the gala event Friday, 11 October, 2019 to be held the ‘The Venue’ at Moama Bowling Club.

The Molato event will not only showcase Nicole designs and styles also St Joseph’s College Design and Textiles students will hit the catwalk in their designs.

The Molato collection is a set of samples for future sales, which would start Nicole’s small business. You can make a private appointment with Nicole on the evening.

Sewing mends Nicole’s soul, the Molato Project has built beautiful friendships. Don’t miss this event!
