Community planning brings local people together to decide how they want their town or community to evolve and how council and the community can work together to achieve that.
Council and the Campaspe community work in partnership to:
- identify what they value about their community; what are its strengths and its resources?
- explore how they would like to develop and improve the community
- identify and decide on shared priorities and projects
- work together to achieve these aims
Communicating openly at the very start of the planning process helps build new and stronger relationships between Council and the community, making community planning more effective, relevant and sustainable.
An important part of this process is developing community plans for each town or community, which identify each community’s vision for the future and the actions needed to achieve this.
A community plan belongs to the community it serves. Council will support the community to implement relevant areas of the plan by providing advice and information on getting community members and other groups involved. Council will also help community members and groups apply for funding from Council, governments and other sources.
Each community plan includes an implementation plan, reviewed annually, to ensure the priorities reflect the community’s vision.
