What we do
Our Goal is to provide youth engagement opportunities through Blue Light programs, connecting Victoria Police and the community to achieve positive outcomes.
Blue Light Victoria was established in 1976 and now has over 35 branches operating across Victoria, including our very own here in Kyabram. Our programs focus on crime prevention, specifically on identifying and addressing the needs of young people, including those at risk of engaging in antisocial behaviour or criminal offending. We provide education, crime reduction, life skills coaching, and host cultural, social and sporting programmes for youth aged between five to 18 years.
Our initiatives capture a broad range of young people, including vulnerable young people and those at risk of offending or victimisation, as well as Indigenous and culturally diverse young people of all genders.
Each of these events is tailored to Kyabram's community needs. The Kyabram Blue Light branch is run as an independent incorporated entity and is made up of local Victoria Police members and community members. By bringing in local heroes and keeping our activities localized, we are promoting a cause that is committed to achieving better outcomes for young people here in Kyabram. As part of our education initiative, we also align our programmes with recommendations from Victoria Police and Government strategies to address issues for young people in the community.
Growing up is a challenge and the transition to adulthood can be exciting yet confusing. For many young people, family and environmental adversities add another layer of complexity. Kyabram Blue Light provides positive opportunities for young people to engage with each other, with the police and with their community.
