In response to the announcement in May 2017 by Murray Goulburn Cooperative to close its Rochester factory, a local advisory group has been set up to support the community. The purpose of the group, ‘Rochester Open for Business’, is to build and strengthen partnerships between organisations, highlight the needs of the community and provide advice to all levels of government.

Key objectives:

Key objectives have been set for the group:

  • To provide advice to all levels of government regarding community needs
  • To advocate for infrastructure projects which provide long term benefit to the community and business
  • To host a Community Place Making forum to provide future direction for the community
  • To develop a communication plan and marketing program to highlight Rochester as a great place to live and do business
  • To prioritise opportunity to repurpose the current Murray Goulburn site, to ensure the site is not mothballed.

The group includes representatives from:

  • Campaspe Shire
