Sale of Land – 7 Greiner Court Tongala

At Tuesday night’s meeting, Council approved the sale of land at 7 Greiner Court Tongala.

The land is the last lot available of the Tongala Industrial Estate, which was established by Council in 2002 and has been for sale since. An application to purchase the land was received from local business, and was assessed and approved, in line with the Council Plan 2021 – 2025 for a flourishing local economy.  

Workforce Planning Grant Offer

Council has accepted state government funding of $42,000 towards a Kindergarten Infrastructure Services Plan which aims to provide information to service providers and developers to inform areas of demand for new or expanded early years infrastructure.  A second funding offer of $40,000 from the state government for kindergarten workforce planning was declined due to Council not directly operating kindergartens since 2017, as well as seeking to avoid duplication of state government and service provider efforts.

Contract awarded for trade services for maintenance

Council has approved the award of Contract 32010 – Trade Services Panel of Suppliers for an initial term of three years. The awarded contract establishes a panel of experienced and qualified suppliers to provide ad-hoc trade services for maintenance and other tasks as required on Council buildings and facilities.

Goddard Road

During Question Time at Tuesday night’s Council meeting, questions had been received from two residents regarding the suspension of school bus services along Goddard Road, Wyuna. Works had been delayed due to the October 2022 floods and the subsequent temporary suspension of the Road Management Plan.

Council’s Director of Infrastructure, Kate Lemon said that resheeting repair works had already started this week and will be finished by next week depending on weather conditions.

Ms Lemon also confirmed that maintenance grading would be carried out on the other sections of Goddard Road, grading the full length of the road. Works are expected to take place in conjunction with the resheeting repair, however, maintenance will be delayed if weather conditions are unfavourable.

Council was not consulted or advised of the suspension of bus services along Goddard Road by the Department of Education, any bus companies or local schools.
