The Goulburn Murray Irrigation District (GMID) is the lifeblood of agriculture in northern Victoria.

The region spans 27,000 square kilometres of stunning landscapes, including the 9,950 square kilometre designated GMID, the largest irrigation system in Australia. It captures the major regional centres of Swan Hill, Boort, Echuca, Shepparton and Yarrawonga – and supports a growing population of more than 173,000 people. The region is known as Australia’s food bowl for a reason. The GMID produces more of Australia’s fruit and dairy produce than any other region, with irrigated agriculture generating an estimated $1.4 billion of value per year in addition to production from non-irrigated land. Our modern irrigation district is the envy of many across Australia, providing access to secure and reliable water for traditional and emerging agricultural enterprises. The region has an extensive and established supply chain network that is well connected to local and international markets. The GMID embodies a relaxed rural lifestyle with diverse and supportive communities, access to high quality health care, renowned education facilities and countless opportunities to relax and enjoy the natural environment.

With 800,000 hectares of production land, make the GMID the home of your next agricultural investment.
