Echuca & District Livestock Exchange

Owned and operated by Campaspe Shire Council, the Echuca and District Livestock Exchange holds regular cattle sales and horse sales.

It features up to date technology including Livestock Exchange software and ALEIS scanning equipment to cover the requirements of the National Livestock Identification Scheme (NLIS). It offers covered yards with a soft, wood chip floor, providing optimal conditions to help producers get the best market price for their products.

The exchange is located at 520 McKenzie Road, Echuca.

The welfare of animals at the exchange is very important. Download the Animal welfare incident form(PDF, 240KB) to report any incidents.

Cattle sales

Echuca’s prime cattle sales are held fortnightly on Wednesdays with an average yarding of 1,000 head per sale.

With seven stock agents operating at Echuca’s prime cattle market and an average 18 buyers attending to buy for up to 40 different abattoirs or feed lots, maximum competition is assured.

A store cattle sale is held on the first Monday of every month except January at Echuca. Dairy cattle sales are held on the second and fourth Friday of each month. Other dairy sales are held during spring and autumn.

Horse sales

The Echuca and District Livestock Exchange is the largest horse selling centre in Australia, attracting horses from across Victoria, NSW and South Australia. The sales are held fortnightly, on Fridays, with an average yarding of over 100 horses per sale. That’s more than 2,500 horses annually.

Whether you want to buy or sell a Shetland pony, a Clydesdale or anything in between, you’re sure to find it at the Echuca and District Livestock Exchange.
