Campaspe Shire Council has endorsed the sale of Stage Three of the Echuca Industrial Estate. Council has also endorsed the investigation of future uses of land known as Stage Four of the Echuca Industrial Estate and will consider these findings at a future meeting.

The report noted that Campaspe Shire had received strong interest in sales of industrial land over the last 12 months, with currently only one block of industrial land available for sale in Tongala.

Council had allocated land for future industrial development in Echuca with a Planning Permit issued in 2021 including 24 lots for sub-division.

Cr Amos said that a consideration had been given to construction costs to determine the best outcome for ratepayers.

“The sale of this land will generate income for the Council which can go towards future economic development projects and activities.

“With the complex nature and potential costs of undertaking a development project of this type, it has been decided that it would be more favourable for Council to sell Stage Three land to a private developer with the planning permit in place.”

For Rochester, approval was granted to design the next stage of the Rochester Industrial Estate in order to obtain a Planning Permit.

“The further development of the estate will assist with the economic recovery of Rochester,” Cr Amos said.

Council resolved to undertake a supply and demand assessment of Industrial Land across Campaspe Shire to ensure that there is sufficiently zoned land to enable future growth.

Cr Amos said that Council would actively support economic growth and establishment of new business in Campaspe Shire.

“Whilst it is not a requirement of Council to provide industrial land for sale, we want to encourage economic development, employment growth and provide opportunities for establishment and growth of local businesses.”
