More Support for Southern 80

Campaspe Shire Council has agreed to support the Moama Water Sports Club with $25,000 in cash and Council support to the value of $25,000 to assist in the cost of hosting the 2023 Southern 80 Ski Race.

In partnership with Murray Regional Tourism Board, Council will also advocate to the Victorian Minister for Tourism, Sport and Major Events, along with Visit Victoria, to seek further funding and provisions for emergency service support free from charge.

The club recently announced the Southern 80 had been rescheduled to March, instead of the traditional second week in February, to allow more time for the river to return to normal flows and Parks Victoria to reopen forests.

Following the 2023 event, Council will revaluate funding and support provided and develop a new partnership agreement.

Place Based Planning and Township Facility Planning Update

Due to delays caused by the October floods and community feedback, Campaspe Shire Council has approved timeline extensions for the delivery of Place Based Plans and Township Facility Plans.

Council staff and consultants will work with individual communities to provide a minimum of one Place Based Plan and Township Facility Plan every six months.

Colbinabbin, Tongala, Rochester, Lockington, Echuca, Kyabram and Stanhope have all been scheduled for progression in 2024, with a view to complete all plans by the end of 2025.
