Urban Forest Plan endorsed

Council adopted the Urban Forest Plan following community consultation. Council noted 15 submissions had been received with various suggestions and support. The Plan aims to enhance township character and landscape resilience through strategic tree planting, preservation and management in order to maximise benefits such as increased natural shade in our townships.

Sale of land in Mackay Steet Rochester

Following a period of public advertising with no submissions received, Council approved a partial road discontinuance and sale to the adjacent landowner of a small parcel of land (approximately 175m2) within the Mackay Steet, Rochester car park.

Acquisition of former Echuca High School land

Council endorsed an application to the Department of Education to purchase 42 Crofton Street, Echuca the site of the former Echuca High School. Acquisition of the land aims improve Victoria Park development opportunities, allowing for investigation into the establishment of a new multi-use sports field and associated infrastructure and parking as recommended in the Victoria Park Masterplan.

Funds allocated for Rochester Aquatic Facility design

Following extensive community consultation in 2023 and the resolution to approve the Rochester Aquatics Functional Brief at its March 2024 meeting, Council has allocated Asset Renewal funds towards the detailed design and costings for the Rochester Aquatic Facility to support future funding applications.
