Have your say and shape the future of Campaspe
Published on 05 February 2025
Campaspe Shire Council is starting an extensive community consultation program, where you can provide your feedback to guide Council’s future actions, helping to formulate the Community Vision for the next 15 years as well as informing the Council Plan 2025-29.
As part of the community consultation, a Citizens Panel of forty people who represent the diverse voices of our community will be formed. These panel members will be chosen through a democratic lottery undertaken by external consultants.
This week 8,000 invitations will be sent to randomly selected addresses. If you receive an invitation, consider it your golden ticket to have your say! We want to hear your ideas on how to make Campaspe an even better place to live, work, study, and play.
This panel will follow an established democratic process used all over the world. It brings together a group of people selected by lottery, who broadly represent the entire community. The people on the panel learn about issues, discuss them with one another, and then make recommendations to Council about what should happen in their community and if/how things should change. The Citizens Panel will take place from 21-23 March in Echuca.
Campaspe Shire Mayor, Cr Daniel Mackrell encourages people from across the shire and of all ages, abilities, genders, and cultural backgrounds to get involved.
“If you don’t receive an invite, we still want to hear from you! There will be other opportunities to be involved, both online and in person.
“Residents can complete our anonymous online survey, which is open until 10 March. It’s quick and easy to do, and a great way to have your voice heard,” Cr Mackrell said.
The survey can be accessed via our website, or through a QR code on postcards and posters placed at all our service centres and libraries. Though the survey is anonymous, those who complete it can opt to go in the draw to win one of 3 x $50 vouchers.
