A new History Trail Map showcasing the vast array of historical landmarks in Campaspe Shire has just been launched.

The handy A4 map features snippets of information on more than 20 sites to visit with a focus on history and creating intrigue.

Deputy Mayor Colleen Gates said tourism is a key component of our local economy and highlighting what is on offer is an important part of Council’s role in supporting growth in the sector.

“From old jail cells to vintage horse carriages and gold mines, the map is an eye-opening guide to the diverse attractions in our historically rich region.”

“But it’s not just for the intrepid traveller, often locals may not know every detail about what’s on offer within the region and materials such as the History Trail Map help to build awareness.”

“I encourage people to get out and explore the hidden gems in their own backyard, that they may not have known existed.”

Cr Gates said maps are available for businesses and community groups who can contact Council if they wish to stock the map at their premises and help drive interest.

The History Trail Map is also available electronically on Council’s website, under ‘Regional Driving Maps’, along with the Arts Trail and Northern Victoria Regional Driving Maps. Hard copies will be available at Echuca Moama Visitor Information Centre, Kyabram Town Hall, Rochester Sports Museum, Council Customer Service Centres and other local attractions.

The map will be updated regularly and community suggestions are welcome.
