Clean Up Australia Day 2025 2 March

Clean Up Australia Day is back for its 35th year, and Council is calling on all residents to join the largest community-based environmental event in Australia on Sunday, 2 March. Since its inception in 1990, over 22 million Australians have volunteered to help keep our landscapes beautiful.

In 2024, the Clean Up Australia Day campaign collected an estimated 140,000 bags of litter nationally. This year, the campaign aims to make an even bigger impact with your help!

Campaspe Shire Mayor, Cr Daniel Mackrell, encourages everyone to participate in this significant event.

“Our community groups, businesses, and individuals have shown incredible dedication to keeping our environment clean. This year, we continue to support these efforts by providing essential resources and assistance.

“It’s fantastic to see the enthusiasm from local schools and businesses. Their participation not only helps clean up our surroundings but also instils a sense of environmental responsibility in the next generation,” Cr Mackrell added,

Director of Sustainability, Michael Sharp, highlighted the importance of community involvement.

“Community involvement is crucial in our efforts to reduce litter and protect our natural spaces.  By joining forces, we can prevent rubbish from harming our wildlife and keep our neighbourhoods looking their best,” said Mr Sharp.

Registering for a Clean Up event is free, easy, and fun. It helps create lasting change in your local community by removing litter from the environment. Clean Up Australia provides all the necessary resources, including starter kits with bags, gloves, and other materials, to ensure your event is successful and safe. You can register as an individual, family team, local community group, or with friends. Visit the Clean Up Australia website to register your event or join an existing one.
