Roadside slashing is underway

Campaspe Shire Council’s annual roadside slashing program has commenced.

Roadside grass from along almost 2,000 kilometres of rural sealed road will be slashed in order to increase visibility and maintain road safety.

Due to significant spring growth and high moisture content, the program will undoubtedly be extended.

Acting General Manager Infrastructure Daniel Basham said all slashing would be completed as soon as possible.

“Roadside slashing is one of our most important annual undertakings,” Mr Basham said.

“Our road maintenance teams are out and about, getting around to rural sealed roads and ensuring the safety of local motorists.

“Our fire break slashing program is also scheduled to start in early November. This entails works along select rural gravel roads and sealed roads with the intention of reducing potential fire risk.”
