Consultation has almost been completed for the Rushworth Place Based Plan.  So far over 500 local residents have had their say about the future of Rushworth through surveys, workshops, meetings, submissions and children’s drawings.

Some of the key themes that have emerged are:

  • A strong sense of pride in the historic streetscapes and buildings of Rushworth.
  • The desire for more services, shops and businesses.
  • A strong desire to attract more visitors to the town.
  • Support for developing and improving both formal and informal sport and recreation opportunities.
  • The desire to further develop paths and trails both within the town and through the bush.
  • The desire for improved parks, play and picnic facilities.
  • Concern about the condition of some roads, intersections, bridges and speed limits.
  • A desire to further enhance art and cultural activities.
  • A strong attachment to the Whroo Forest and Waranga Basin.
  • The desire to provide opportunities for people to create meaningful connections with one other.

The committee is keen for further input from the farming community.  Farmers, please feel free to contact Wendy at communityvibe to share your ideas on 0438 433 555 or [email protected].

Over the next two months, the Rushworth Place Based Committee will be working to finalise the actions to be included in the draft plan, which will then be open to the community for comment.
