Campaspe Shire Council has called for Expressions of Interest (EOI) for suitable contractors for Stage 2 of the Rushworth Streetscape Renewal works.

Stage 2 will involve works along the west side of High Street (between Moora Road to Wigg Street) and some works on the east side between the old railway line and the post office corner.

Works will also involve the removal of the six pedestrian outstands installed during Stage 1 of High Street works, following concerns, confirmed by engineering investigations, around potential impacts to the overland flow of stormwater.

“We took on board the concerns and made an evidence-based decision to remove the outstands constructed in High Street and we will be replacing those with line marking,” Acting Director Infrastructure Kate Lemon said.

Stage 2 is the final stage in the streetscape project and will also involve:

  • Replacement of footpath, kerb and street furniture between the old railway line and post office corner on the east side of High Street
  • Replacement of footpath, kerb and associated street furniture on the west side of High Street between Moora Road to Wigg Street
  • Renewal of the road seal on both the east and west sides of High Street between Moora Road and Wigg Street.

Ms Lemon said there will be some disruption, but works will be staged to minimise the disruption and all impacted property owners and businesses will be personally contacted to discuss access issues and timeline plans.

“We know the Easter Heritage Festival is an important community event and we’ve scheduled works to start late September this year with the aim to finish works in March 2024 prior to the Easter Festival,” she said.

“There will be some inconvenience to members of the community seeking access to some properties in High Street , that is inevitable, but we are working on a staged approach to minimise as much disruption as possible.”

Stage 2 works will not involve the median strip in High Street which was completed in Stage 1.
