This is a multi year program of works to upgrade the Victoria Park boat ramp and associated infrastructure.

Project outcomes are a safe and accessible boat launch and retrieval point for anglers, campers, water skiers, houseboating holidaymakers, canoeists, power boat enthusiasts, jet skiers and nature-lovers to easily access the Murray River. Council is also undertaking investigation of suitable location and design of a canoe storage facility to enable the canoe club to keep their canoes in a position suited for easy launch.

The program has been subject to some delay due to the 2022 flood. The boat ramp forms part of a broader master plan for Victoria Park.

In November 2023, works began on removal of the existing boat ramp pavement from the top of the bank down to the existing concrete wet ramp, approximately 2 metres above the normal summer operating level. These finished in December 2023. 

Stage 2 will include renewal and upgrade to the wet ramp (submerged) pavement and existing retaining walls to include an all-abilities walkway ramp and a floating dock. The dock will include a crane to assist loading people with disability into boats. Works are scheduled to start in May 2024 and finish in September 2024, during the off-season when the river water level is at its lowest.

Amenities replacement

Works have begun in February 2024 on replacing the public amenities that were removed during the construction of the Dhungala Bridge between Echuca and Moama in 2021.

There will be three unisex cubicles toilets, with one being accessible and one ambulant.

The amenities will be located in the laydown area just off the car park northwest of the boat ramp, next to the accessible car parking space and pedestrian crossing.

Works were completed on the amenities replacement in April 2024.
