Clean Up Australia Day is back! Join local groups up on Sunday, 3 March to clean up Campaspe.

In 2023, over 760,000 Australians stepped up to help our environment and show their community spirit!

Help to keep your town clean by picking up litter at one of the 2024 Clean Up Australia Day events happening across Campaspe Shire.

Campaspe Shire Mayor, Cr Rob Amos encouraged everyone to join a clean-up crew in their community.

“Community groups, businesses and individuals across our region have done a fantastic job organising Clean Up events. We have continued to support these events by providing essential resources.

“As always, there’s fantastic uptake from the local schools and businesses in the region, who support the Clean Up initiative through the dedicated Clean Up Australia schools and business days.

“If you’re interested in registering for an event but haven’t done so, there’s still time to create an event of your own. Visit the Clean Up Australia website,” Cr Amos added.

Campaspe Shire Council Director Sustainability, Michael Sharp said it’s a great initiative for Australia and there’s fantastic benefits for the shire.

“With the support of the community, we work towards stopping litter from ending up in our public spaces, bushland and waterways. If there’s less rubbish around on the ground, people are less likely to litter.

“Rubbish that is thrown away, even in small amounts, can still do great damage to our native wildlife and affects the appearance of our neighbourhoods,” Mr Sharp said.

Clean Up Australia will be sending starter kits including bags, gloves and other resources to those who register to host an event.

For more information on events being held, visit the Clean Up Australia Day website and search your postcode to join an event.
