Community Grants awarded in May

Campaspe Shire Council is delighted to announce the successful recipients of the Community Grants programs for the month of May. These grants aim to support and empower local community organisations and groups in their valuable work to enhance the quality of life for residents throughout our region.

Council’s grants programs provide financial assistance to a diverse range of projects and initiatives that contribute to the social, cultural, environmental, and economic development of the Campaspe community. Council received numerous applications for funding, each displaying the passion and dedication of local groups and individuals towards improving our vibrant community.

The grants that were awarded in May included:

Community Event Sponsorship

  • Echuca Steam Preservation Society Inc. was granted $5,000 to be used towards equipment hire for the Echuca Moama Steam Iron &Trades Revival held from 10 – 11 June.
  • Colbinabbin Silo Art (Colbinabbin & District Historical Society Inc.) was awarded $5,000 to assist with hosting the inaugural Colbinabbin Silo Art Picnic & Wine Festival which was be held on 7 May and was a great success for the town.
  • Kyabram Parkland Golf Club Inc. was awarded $2,500 for marketing and general running costs involved with hosting the Victorian Par 3 Championships, an event that attracts participants from across Victoria.
  • Echuca Neighbourhood House Inc. was awarded $500 to go towards decorations and materials hosting the Echuca Moama Pride Cocktail Party which was held on 3 June at Fuzion Café, Echuca.


    Community Equipment Grants

  • Kyabram Little Athletics Centre Inc. received $2,000 to purchase 25 collapsible hurdles to replace broken and increase stock with the aim to encourages participation of children in hurdles events.
  • Kyabram Plaza Committee Inc. received $2,000 to purchase a defibrillator to be housed at the Kyabram Plaza Theatre and is available to community members and groups that utilise the Theatre.
  • Rochester Cemetery Trust was awarded $2,000 to purchase a defibrillator to be housed at the Rochester Cemetery and will be made available to the community.
  • Echuca Moama Photography Club Inc. was granted $2,000 to purchase a smoke machine, bubble machine, picture backdrops, stands and a lightbox to be used at workshops and to enhance the mood and aesthetic quality of images. This equipment will allow the club to host workshops and will be made available to club members for use in community photo shoots and for images to be displayed in exhibitions.
  • Kyabram Valley View Golf & Bowls Club Inc. was awarded $2,000 to purchase a new finishing mower to mow rough areas and tight areas such as around trees.
  • Kyabram Croquet Club Inc. received $1,800 to purchase two sets of Quadway croquet hoops which prevent damage to lawns when set up and adjusting. The hoops will replace outdated cast iron hoops which will level the playing field when members participate at Croquet Club events outside Kyabram.
  • Colbinabbin Football Netball Club Inc. was awarded $1,000 to purchase a Bluetooth speaker and microphone for use at community and club events.
  • Nanneella Timmering Landcare Group (auspiced by Goulburn Murray Landcare Network Inc.) received $2,000 to obtain specialised revegetation tools and equipment for volunteer and community use on planting days.


    Responsive Grants

  • $1000 was award to assist with hosting the “Rochester FNC Recover & Reconnect”, a post-match gathering to be held on 23 April at the Rochester Football Netball Club Social Rooms. The event was an opportunity for the community to come together and to support the mental health and wellbeing of the flood affected community.
  • Rochester Historical & Preservation Society Inc. received $981 to purchase stationery stock and a first aid kit to replace what was damaged in the October 2022 major flood event.


    Junior Development Grants Program

  • Jacob Brighton of Echuca was awarded $200 to assist with costs associated with representing the state at the Australian Open Bowls to be held at the Gold Coast from 10 – 23 June. The grant will allow Jacob to compete against others at this level in the under 18 events but also in the open singles and pairs. Good luck Jacob!
