Projects earmarked for funding allocation

Campaspe Shire Council approved the referral of six projects for funding allocation under Phase 4 of the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure (LRCI) program at last night’s meeting. The Local Roads and Community Infrastructure program is funded by the Australian Government, to be delivered by local governments who may nominate local priority projects to assist in the recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Campaspe Shire Mayor Rob Amos said that Council was pleased to be able to recommend allocation of funding to projects that the community has strongly advocated for.

“These projects have been nominated following community consultation and feedback through our budgeting process.

“This program has already enabled us to complete a fantastic range of projects within Campaspe Shire and this final phase will allow for some long-held community ambitions to be realised,” Cr Amos said.

The LRCI program was introduced in July 2020 with $10,605,875 in funding already received by Campaspe Shire under Phases 1-3. Phases 1 and 2 have been completed delivering a range of projects across the municipality, with Phase 3 currently in progress and on track for completion by June 2024.

“Since 2020 the LRCI Program has been providing stimulus funding to councils. We are most appreciative of receiving more than $10.6 million in Phases 1-3 in funding towards the upgrade of local roads and community infrastructure.

“The fourth phase has seen Campaspe Shire allocated a further $4.1 million for projects to be completed between 2023-25,” Cr Amos said.

In considering suitable projects that meet the funding criteria and the requirement to be completed by June 2025, Council approved the following for LRCI Phase 4:

• Toolleen Axedale Road Widening and Safety Enhancement ($2,324,500)
• Kyabram Netball Court Shelter ($250,000)
• Rochester Recreation Reserve Lighting ($306,000)
• Toolleen Recreation Reserve ($180,000)
• Campaspe Public Amenities Program ($575,182)
• Campaspe Dog Parks ($500,000)

The final decision on projects to be funded is at the discretion of the funding body.
