Exhibition - Our Chinese Community

Water-wheel-in-operation

'Our Chinese Community' Exhibition

This exhibition tells the story of some of our earliest residents, the Chinese. Find out why our first Chinese residents made Echuca home.

Chinese market gardeners arrived in Echuca in April 1865. Others had experience as bankers, storekeepers and interpreters, general labourers and even a river boat owner/captain.

There were many interracial marriages on the goldfields and then in the townships when the gold failed.

This exhibition is open daily from 10am until 2pm from 1 July until 10 August. Groups welcome.
